Booty Duty: Ass With Some Class

My friend Luis Facebook status states...

"Googling booty shots....trying to separate a classy booty shot, from a trashy booty shot"

I found this rather curious and thought about the age old obsession with butts. I find a good butt more interesting than breasts any day. And I was to choose from one of the two procedures I would opt for butt implants. Not that I would, I'm just saying!

Anyway, Luis Facebook status made me think about notorious booty shots captured by some of the most amazing and provocative photographers of all time. Check out what makes the list...

Throwback Tuesdays: Gia Carangi

My boyfriend and I watched GIA last night. Seen it a couple times before, and honestly the movie is a little cheesy. Not sure if it's suppose to be cheesy because it's based in the early 80s, but the soft light vignette filters and sultry sounds of the saxaphone make it hard for me to take it seriously. All bad cinema aside, the story behind Gia Marie Carangi is quite depressing. She was so beautiful, and so young! Below are some of my favorite images of Gia, including the infamous photos by Helmut Newton that put her on the map. Enjoy!

Teenage Runaway: Photo Shoot With Christine Hahn

Christine Hahn was in town for a couple of weeks and its safe to say we took advantage of the time she was here and pumped out not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 photo shoots. I had a blast! Christine and I are totally on the same page when it downs to fashion, style, and work ethic goes so its no wonder our collaborations have been easy as pie.

Below are the photos of our impromptu editorial shoot "Teenage Runaway" featuring Brittany Hartman of TCM. We originally had a different theme/ look planned, but our first location fell through, so we seriously just winged it and finalized the looks that day. It was a carefree day of sunshine, suspicious activity in the park, tumbleweeds and abandoned trailers in Georgetown. Pretty much awesome.

Photographer: Christine Hahn
Model: Brittany Hartman from TCM
Stylist: Osiris Navarro
Hair: Tara Zak
MUA: Debbie Maresma

All American kind of look. This outfit reminds me of The Outsiders...that is if a girl was part of the gang.

She's ready to blow this popsicle stand! I found this silk cowboy top at my favorite Mormon thrift store. You can't see the detail in this picture but the top is embellished with all sorts of golden glory.

These boots were made for walking. I think this outfit is hilarious. I would never wear this outfit in real life haha. It's too obnoxious for my taste, but it works in a photograph! Vintage fringe sweater, H&M acid washed jeans, and vintage red boots. Kinda trashy, no?

We got so lucky with this location. We were sort of just wandering around and saw this. 1950s metallic zebra print dress paired with a leather fringe bead necklace.

1950's Hawaiian romper. Scored this joint for $1. How exciting.

I like the contrast between a soft and chic floral outfit with aggressive caged boots. A lot of my looks have a touch of childhood in them. My obsession with fashion started when I was a little girl so I attribute a lot of my style and fashion sense today with my nostalgia. Hence the funny watermelon bag.

Ya gots to pop the collar! Stay fitted in a black motorcycle leather jacket. Some pieces are trendy and come and go with this season, but some pieces are here to stay forever and this black jacket is one of them.

Channeling In Living Color Fly Girl! We wanted this look to be fun and rebellious, but we didn't want it to be hookerish. The shoes are the reedeming factor in this look. If you had paired this outfit with heels it would have been a whole different story. High waisted printed 90s top, houndstooth sports bra, leather jacket, ankle boot flats, and leopard bag.

The Selby

I stumbled upon this cool blog called "The Selby". I'm surprised I haven't heard of it sooner! Photographer Todd Selby travels the world and takes photos of creative people in their creative spaces. Here are some of my favorite picks...

Erin Wasson- designer for RVCA

Cobrasnake- Cool people photographer

Alexander Wang in all his glory

Ginger Snaps! Some of My Favorite Red Heads

When I was in the 2nd grade I had a classmate who left a very bad taste in my mouth about redheads. He had golden red hair, green eyes, and freckles for days. He reminded me of a serpent. He smelled like pee, ate his boogers, and always tried to hug me. For a lack of better words I developed a sort of aversion towards red heads.

As of late my silly prejudice towards red heads have slowly grown to a greater appreciation. I accredit this new awareness to photographer Christine Hahn. We worked together a few times and some of our most striking models were red heads. They worked it! Anyway, below are some of my favorite red heads.

Designer Brian Lichtenberg...DUH!

The sexy Cintia Dicker

The sweet Lily Cole

The classic beauty Karen Elson

Stone Age Style By Jeremy Scott

Would you expect anything less from designer Jeremy Scott? Personally, I think fashion should be borderline crazy. It does not have to be this serious haute couture, all black, death personified, sullen thing. I guess every designer and every fashionista has their own opinion and style, but for me I like things with a dash of humor, a dollop of zaniness, and of course an array of delicious colors. Not that I would necessarily wear anything from Scott's Spring/ Summer 2010 line, but I thought it was fun and worth posting about.

This is How Breezies Get Down in 1973

I found this shirt for 50 cents during one of my weekend treasure hunts. I thought it was obnoxious, hilarious, arrogant, and design friendly. A few adjectives that I often use to describe myself. I love the neon colors and bubbly text. Its marked by the artist named of "Roach 1973".

Sneak Peek: Big Girls Tea Party

I produced and did the art direction for a photo shoot yesterday inspired by a little girl's pass time...tea parties! I pulled from all local talent; dresses designed by Naomi B., hats by Katie Cox, and jewelry by Susan Goodwin. Below are a few snaps I took during the shoot. I can't wait to see the edits by Kyle Johnson and Christopher Nelson.

Freetime Industries: Lazer Nature

Check out my friend Katie Bailey's work...Lazer Nature by Freetime Industries. Soooo cool. I was fortunate enough to style and help with the art direction for her look book. Photos by her boo, Kyle Johnson. =) The sunshine was perfect that day! To download the line sheet/ look book click the link. Lazer Nature Line Sheet.
