Mother Denim Spring 2011

From the denim trendsetters that brought you Seven For All Manking (Tim Kaeding) & Citizens of Humanity (Lela Tillem) present a new line called Mother. I am not one to wear pants, let alone jeans, but this line is making me reconsider my aversion to denim. I love the vintage and classic cuts from the wide leg pant, high waisted skirt, and flare bottom. The Spring 2011 look book "Mother I'd Love To Film" sold me!

Geometry + Accessory

I'm trying to get my accessory game right. More earrings, more necklaces, more costume jewelry, more bangles, bigger rings, more metal, more chains. Not necessarily all at once, but I want to replenish my collection in that department. My furs and sequins are on hold right now until I make some room in my "closet", but for the time being I am focusing on more key pieces to hang on my neck and dangle on my ears. I'm really into geometric, art deco + architecture inspired pieces right now...

Chuuuuuuuuuurch!

I got a church hat the other day with all the fixins, lace, and feathers, but I am feeling a little torn. It's adorable, but at the same time I need to muster up the balls to actually wear it out. I don't want my phase with church hats to be a fashion faux pas. Anyway, church hats are fun, whimsical, and quirky. I am shopping for the perfect one for New Years Eve 2009. Ever since I got my peacock tattoo I have been feeling a little birdy. Tweet tweet

Coat Check: Black is The New Black

On Wednesday and Thursday nights I am your official coat check girl at See Sound Lounge in Downtown Seattle. For all of you who aren't familiar with the venue, it's a uppity swanky club/ bar that attracts an array of people who have one thing in common: their undying devotion to black coats.

I like to think that my job as the coat check girl is an anthropological approach in terms of fashion and trends in a metropolitan area. On a busy night I check in about 50-100 coats. It's a very simple task for a good chunk of change, but sometimes it gets tricky. At about the 20th coat I start to notice that almost every single coat in my possession is black. Here is the usual dialogue between myself and a customer checking back for their coat.

Me: Hello, can you describe your coat for me please?
Them: It's that black one over there.
Me: Ummm...they're all black. What's the brand?
Them: French Connection

Some coats have a little gray tweed, or silver buttons, or something that offsets the color black, but for the most part they are all still black. Plain and simple. Not to say black is boring or dull, however I think a majority of people are too scared to venture into other colors and patterns. Black is timeless and safe, but don't be surprised if you fade into the crowd with your black peacoat, or if I accidentally hand you back the wrong coat.

Yours truly on a Wednesday night. Come visit! Notice the sea of black behind me. Oooh I spot a white coat! Anyway...below are some sorta black coats of my choice.

Fuck! I Hurt My Ring Finger

For the last 12 hours I have been agonizing over the throbbing pain of my newly bluish purple color ring finger. Earlier today I slammed my car door on my poor little finger. Ouch!

I use to pride myself for having lovely slender hands with nice nail beds, but that is no longer. My sister who's a nurse told me that my nail might possibly fall off. I started to get really paranoid thinking that the nerves of my finger might die and I might have to get it amputated...I even started thinking of alternatives such as stylish strap on fingers. I like to think in worst case scenarios, even in really petty situations like this one. It probably isn't that serious, but who knows!

Anyway...I'm sure it will be better in the morning...or so I hope. And while we are on the subject of ring fingers, I thought I would do a little ring window shopping online. If by chance my ring finger will be an ugly finger for the rest of my life, I will have to over compensate by dressing it up in something sparkly and pretty.

This lovely black and white diamond ring is only $170.99 on http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watches/10k-Gold-1-3ct-TDW-Black-and-White-Diamond-Ring-I-J-I2-I3/3285615/product.html

Falling in Glove

Tis the season to dazzle up your fingers. Below are some of my favorite leather style gloves and designers ranging from the high end to low end.

KiKi De Montaparnasse can make any body part look sexy.

Nina Peter is probably the hottest glove designer out right now. You can purchase her gloves at http://www.yoox.com/.

If you're on a tight budget and the above mentioned gloves are out of your price range then you can have these buffalo leather bad boys for a whopping $4.95 at http://www.jillianleather.com/. Amazing right?
